Ge Jianxiong, a distinguished professor at Fudan University, holds a PhD in history and is a doctoral supervisor. He is a member of the Social Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, a standing committee member of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and a curator at the Central Institute of Culture and History.

Ge Jianxiong's ancestral home is Shaoxing, Zhejiang. He was born on December 15, 1945, in Huzhou, Zhejiang. Formerly served as the director of the Institute of Chinese Historical Geography and the Center for Historical Geography at Fudan University.

Appointed as a professor in 1991, doctoral supervisor in 1993, director of the Institute of Chinese Historical Geography from 1996 to 2007, director of the Historical Geography Research Center of the Key Research Base of the Ministry of Education from 1999 to 2007, and director of the Fudan University Library from March 2007 to March 2014. Currently serving as a distinguished professor (majoring in History and Geography), member of the School Affairs Committee, member of the Academic Standards Committee, Deputy Director of the Map Working Committee of the Ministry of Education, member of the Social Science Committee and Deputy Director of the Academic Style Construction Committee of the Ministry of Education, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Library Society, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Historical and Historical Society, as well as a member of the International Historical Population Committee, the Chinese Historical Society, the Chinese Qin and Han History Research Association, a counselor of the Shanghai Municipal Government, and a standing committee member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

Engaged in research on historical geography, Chinese history, population history, immigration history, etc. for a long time, he has written "Population Geography of the Western Han Dynasty", "History of Chinese Development", "Under the World: Unity, Division and Chinese Politics", "Unity and Division: Enlightenment from Chinese History", "Concise History of Chinese Immigration" (co authored), "History of Chinese Immigration" (Volumes 1 and 2), "Past and Present Events", "Great Han Style", "Future Living Space · Natural Space", "Journey Collection", "Gravel Collection", "Approaching the Sun - Ali's Investigation Record", "Cambridge Notes", "Changes in Ancient Chinese Territory", "Population and Modernization of China" (co authored), and other academic papers.
